About Miss Wax

Silvia Cera — a.k.a. Miss Wax Miss Wax – Spirit of the Plants is a botanical project rooted in Sardinia, where wild Mediterranean plants, traditional knowledge and contemporary research come together.

I am a botanist and independent researcher working at the intersection of plant chemistry, well-being and pollinator health. Miss Wax was born as a personal and scientific journey: a way to translate years of fieldwork, travel and laboratory research into tangible, handcrafted products inspired by plants.

Today, Miss Wax creates small-batch botanical gin and plant-based massage oils as sensorial extensions of my research and long-term relationship with plants. The Philosophy Spirit of the Plants means listening to what plants already know.

Every leaf, resin and flower carries chemical intelligence shaped by evolution. Miss Wax blends ancient herbal wisdom with modern botanical research, creating products designed to restore balance, ritual and connection between body, mind and environment.

No trends. No shortcuts. Only plants, time and intention. The Craft Miss Wax products are crafted in small batches in Sardinia and include:

  • botanical gin, distilled with wild Mediterranean botanicals

  • plant-based massage oils, inspired by traditional aromatherapy and field research

  • artisanal objects created in collaboration with local makers

The gin is conceived as a botanical extraction: a way to explore plant chemistry through taste, aroma and ritual. The massage oils translate the same plants into touch, skin and nervous-system regulation.

Each product reflects a slow, respectful approach to nature and material.

Global Roots, Local Heart

Miss Wax is deeply rooted in Sardinia, although its methods and practices were shaped across different places.

My academic background was formed in New Zealand, where I developed a scientific approach to plant research. In Indonesia, I learned traditional aromatherapy and massage oil blending through direct practice. In London, I explored botanical gin as a form of plant extraction and sensory research.

Despite these global influences, the heart and identity of Miss Wax remain Mediterranean, shaped by Sardinian plants, landscapes and traditions.

Research & Bees

Miss Wax actively supports my research on Arbutus unedo (strawberry tree) nectar chemistry and its effects on bumblebee parasites.

Pollinators are essential to biodiversity and food systems. Every Miss Wax purchase, including gin and massage oils, helps fund fieldwork, laboratory analysis and collaborations with several research institutions, contributing to the search for natural, plant-based solutions to support environmental health.

Join the Project Miss Wax is not just a brand. It is a living research project, a form of resistance against fast consumption, and a commitment to plants, bees and ecological intelligence. Click Here to Visit the Store
